Dumbo Movie Review

On Sunday me and my family went for a trip to the cinema to see the new live action Dumbo movie.I was very excited but at the same time nervous as Dumbo is one of my favorite classic Disney movies but I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed.

So if you haven’t seen the original the General gist of Dumbo is. A elephant called Jumbo lives at the circus and she is expecting a baby, the baby arrives and to everyone surprise the baby elephant has big giant ears, the other elephants make fun of baby jumbo and result to calling him Dumbo instead. jumbo his mother gets upset and gets angry and destroys the circus tent causing her to be sent away and separated from her baby then Dumbo has to join the circus and they notice he can fly! basically the gist.

I can actually say I was pleasantly surprised, if your going to the movie with the expectations of it being the same as the classic then don’t, It basically has a new story line but they have changed it up a bit and added extras, with classic movies I do feel like they should stick to the same story line but again it wasn’t to far of from it, The movie was made beautifully and the new CGI Dumbo will melt your heart so much. I feel they did so well at recreating Dumbo in CGI, he was full of emotion and seriously adorable you cant help but fall in love with him and feel every emotion he is going through, the Actors they choose for the movie was a good choice! I think the children actors did wonderful, really well played on their part, I did find some of the movie upsetting but if you have seen the classic you will know that Dumbo is a very emotional movie, so be sure to bring some tissues with you. The story in the new movie was lovely, I really like they didn’t add to much on from the original story line. I only have two things in this whole movie that I didn’t like, I didn’t like that the fact that timothy Q Mouse is no longer Dumbo’s best friend. I feel the children actors did a great job at being his sidekicks but I do feel like Timothy mouse needed to be in the movie more, unless you knew who timothy mouse was from this movie you would never know, and I really didn’t like they focused on the human characters more then they did Dumbo I like that they focus on the animals in the classic and would of rather this to of been the same rather then more focused on the human charters.When I found out it was directed by Tim burton I was so excited but also very worried that it would of been a dark twisted version but that wasn’t the case at all, you can see he’s has definitely has made it his own, some scenes from the original movie have been revamped wonderfully! I was truly hooked through out the whole movie, I don’t think there was a single dull moment and I think the ending was beautifully done and couldn’t be any more pleased of how it ended.
Overall I think this was a really good remake of such a classic movie beautifully executed and I cant wait to watch it again.
